Westin Hotels & Resorts by Marriott International
Affectionately known as the “Grand Dame”, the Westin Nova Scotian was the only luxury hotel of its kind in all Eastern Canada, and one of the original railroad hotels, The Nova Scotian quickly became a destination landmark for royalty and dignitaries. Its regal connections bridged Halifax to the rest of Canada. Today, this historical property defines the landscape of the Halifax Coastline. Human connection to nature is synonymous with well-being. Biophilic design has been proven to reduce stress, enhance creativity and improve mood. The design will combine the principles of biophilia with elements of the coastline from the rich hues in the water, the textures of the rocks, sand and moss that line the coast. Abstracting natural forms of the coastal landscape in patterns and textures accented with fabrics and tones in greens and blues present in the natural landscape that is synonymous with Nova Scotia. Hints of purple represent the royal history of the property and tie the Public Space design to the Guest Tower renovation.
