The historic Farmers & Mechanics Bank building, originally built in 1941 was transformed into The Westin Minneapolis. The landmark Main Lobby space features the original 34-foot vaulted bank lobby, marble staircase, and wood carved emblems signifying the leading industries of the World War II era. The seamless integration of the contemporary design with the historic envelope proved to be a successful combination. The property encompasses 214 Guest Rooms and Suites, a 120 seat destination restaurant, a 40 seat Lobby Bar, 8 Private Dining Rooms, Spa, Pool, Westin Workout Room and 7,800 square feet of meeting space. The revival of this historic property, that had stood empty for almost a decade, has received numerous awards for historic preservation, adaptive reuse and for the design itself.
