Moncur Design Associates was awarded the interior design contract for the new build West Block and the renovations to the existing North Block Hotel tower. This project used the Design Build method to deliver the completed project, and was completed in record time, and within budget by introducing value engineering into the design process, and by reducing the delivery schedule by overlapping the design phase and construction phases of the project. The Design Builder was Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) an Ontario government entity that builds all of the Ontario based Casino properties using Design Build practices. The total number of guestrooms was 758, including Executive and VIP Suites. Our scope of work also encompassed the public areas including a 5000 seat entertainment center, over 100,000 square feet of function space, the Grand Reception Lobby and the Augustus Café. Of the three interior design firms involved in this project Moncur Design Associates Inc. was the only interior design firm permitted by the Design Build Client and the Architect to do their own working drawings and specifications. Moncur Design Associates also provided full time site supervision.
