Moncur Design Associates Inc. was honored with the opportunity to restore this ‘Castle of the North’. As the first Autograph by Marriott property in Canada, the new owners marketed this destination property as a Conference and Vacation Resort Hotel Property. As stated on the website, this property that first opened in 1889 is ‘inspired by history and authentic old-world charm’. The 181 Guestrooms and Suites in the Main Building, and the 54 Guestrooms and Suites in the Prince of Wales Wing, were completely gutted and transformed. The Public Spaces on the ground floor include the Main Lobby, the Gallery Living Room, Braxton’s Restaurant, the Van Horne Foyer and Verandah, and the Lobby Bar. The 19,000 square feet of meeting spaces consist of three Ballrooms, the related Prefunction spaces, 4 Meeting Rooms and 9 Seminar Rooms. The facility will offer an exercise room and a pool as amenities for the Guest.
