OMNI KING EDWARD HOTEL

Toronto, ON, Canada

Omni Hotels & Resorts

The King Eddy, as it is affectionately known, was Canada’s first luxury Hotel property. It opened in 1903 at the cost of $6 million dollars. In 1921, a second tower was added to the property. Moncur Design Associates Inc. was awarded the Interior Design contract after a very lengthy selection process. The process began with 12 International Design Firms being invited to bid, and over four months later it was reduced to the final two. After the initial presentation, Moncur Design Associates Inc. was awarded the project. The 301 room property has been fully transformed. Phase 1 included the Main Lobby, Lobby Bar and 65 guestrooms and suites. Phase 2 included the restoration of the 27,000 square feet of function and meeting space and the remainder of the guest tower. The third and final phase saw the Crystal Ballroom brought back to its former glory.
